Journey through John 4:39-45

Good Morning Church Family – Journey Through John

Read John 4:39-45

Devo Thought: This past summer my family and I had the opportunity to travel to Upstate New York and visit Niagara Falls. I had heard a lot about the falls before I had the opportunity to go myself. People had always told me what a breathtaking experience it was. Then, I went, and I saw it for myself. In a word, it was awe-inspiring. It was beautiful and powerful. It was moving. I no longer needed to rely on the testimony of others to understand the sheer beauty and magnitude of Niagara Falls. I knew because I had experienced it for myself. Our passage today addresses this very idea. The woman at the well had gone into the town and told everyone about the incredible man named Jesus that she had met. Many of the people believed the testimony she shared. They decided that they wanted to go and meet this man who “told me all that I ever did.” Then, they met Him. They came face-to-face with the Messiah, and their lives were changed. They changed from ones who had heard about the awe-inspiring man from Galilee to ones who “know that this is indeed the Savior of the world.” Our job is to do our best to describe and testify to the work that Jesus has done in our lives. We are simply telling people about the Messiah, and then we can invite them to meet Him for themselves and let Him go to work. If they meet Him face-to-face, they will never be the same. Let’s talk about Him and what He has done for us.

Let us ask God to help us testify to others about the beauty and wonder of Jesus.
