30-Day Personal Devotion Challenge Day 4

Good Morning Church Family – Day 4

Read Colossians 1:9-12

Devo Thought: Paul, after writing to the Colossians about the report from Epaphras about the love they have, tells the Colossians believers that “we haven’t stopped praying for you.” When you think about praying for other believers, what comes to your mind? Do you think about praying for those who are sick? Maybe you think about praying for broken relationships. Maybe it’s a job loss or a financial difficulty. All of these things are worth praying about. God invites us to pray for whatever we need. He invites us to pray without ceasing and to cast our cares on Him. However, consider what Paul tells the Colossian believers that he has been for praying them. He has prayed for them to “be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.” I think it’s important for us to consider how we pray for other believers. We all need wisdom and spiritual understanding. Why? Well, Paul tells us the benefit of this sort of prayer. The reason knowledge, wisdom, and understanding are important is because makes it possible for us to walk worthy of the Lord…it makes it possible for us to please the Lord. We need to pray for health and strong relationships and financial provisions, but even more, we need to pray for one another to grow in knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. That way, we will be able to live in a way that pleases God. This makes us fruitful and gives us endurance and patience.
