Journey through John 6:36-40
Good Morning Church Family – Journey Through John
Read John 6:36-40
Devo Thought: After coaching for a number of years, I have learned how important it is to have a plan. The team needs a plan when it comes to how to approach a season and how to approach an individual game. On the baseball field, a hitter needs a plan when they come to the plate. Pitchers need to have a plan when they face individual hitters. You need to know what you are trying to do before you begin trying to do it. This passage makes it clear that Jesus had a plan. There is purpose in all that he does, and he makes his purpose and plan clear here. He says, “For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.” In other words, the plan of Jesus was threefold. First, go and get what God the Father had given him. “The Son of Man comes to seek and save that which is lost.” Second, hold on tight to what the Father had given him. Finally, bring them all back to life at the end. Jesus came to rescue us, to secure us forever, and then to resurrect us to eternal life in his eternal kingdom. This was and continues to be his plan. He came to get you and me. He keeps you and me safe as we continue to live here on earth. He will make us new when the time is right.
Let us thank God the Father that Jesus fulfilled his plan and purposes with us.
