Good Morning Church Family – Day 30
 
Read Colossians 4:14-18

Devo Thought: Paul finishes his letter to the Colossians today. Again, he mentions people because people matter and have a calling in the Lord. Have you ever had a person say something to you that redirected the course of your life or reminded you of your true purpose in life? I remember this happening to me as a young teacher in my year at a local school. The school was a difficult place to teach. Poverty and fatherlessness were major systemic issues in this particular school. Many of my students came from very difficult home lives and had families that didn’t really value education. One day, when I was in the middle of a particularly hard day and was being observed by a fellow teacher and mentor, I was really struggling with self-doubt. I taught what was probably a terrible lesson, and I felt like I was failing miserably. This fellow teacher and mentor pulled me out into the hallway. I thought she was going to tell me to consider another profession. Instead, she asked me a couple of practical questions about my lesson, and then she said something that changed everything for me (literally, I was a different teacher from that day forward). She looked at me and said, “You are doing a good job. These students need someone like you in their lives.” It blew me away. I wonder what it was like for Archippus to hear the words “See that you fulfill the ministry that you have received in the Lord” read aloud to the entire church. In that moment, he was reminded that God had placed a very special call on his life. I bet that moment propelled him forward into the ministry the Lord had given him. I want you to hear that word from me. Whatever it is, “see that you fulfill the ministry that you have received in the Lord.” You can do it. People need you in their lives because of the calling God has placed on your life.

Prayer – Let us ask God to help us fulfill our ministry.
