Journey through John 1:9-13
Good Morning Church Family – Journey Through John
Read John 1:9-13
Devo Thought: I want to share with you something that Brian Wright shared with me. He preached not too long ago on this particular passage, and in his study, he realized that there are three types of people in the world when it comes to Jesus. First, there are the people who simply don’t know Jesus. He shows up, and they don’t know who he is or why he’s come. They are ignorant of their Creator. We know that these people are suppressing the truth because, as Paul tells us in Romans 1:19-20, “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made…” Second, there are the people who know him but don’t receive him. They won’t claim him as their own, as their Messiah. They reject him and the truth because they don’t want him. Then, there is the last group of people. There are those who do receive him. These are the ones who believe in his name. To believe in his name is to put full trust in him and his character. It is to say that what he says is true and what he does is right because of who he is. These people have been given a very special privilege from him. They are given the right to become children of God. In other words, those who receive him become a part of his family, and as such, they have all the rights of being a family member. This means the peace, love, and joy of God, a future with him in the new heavens and new earth. Which type of person are you?
Let us give God thanks for sending Jesus and allowing us to be a part of His family.
